Are you looking for the best online incorporation service, but not sure which one is the right choice for you? Incfile and MyCompanyWorks are both services that can form an LLC or corporation on your behalf.
In this comparison, we’ll walk through the five main factors you need to consider when choosing between these services. Which one is the better overall option?
Comparison Based on the Five Key Points
In our review of each online incorporation service, we performed a “stress test” on each based on five key factors:
- Compared pricing and features to determine the overall value of each service.
- Researched their track record based on how many businesses they’ve formed.
- Assessed the quality of customer service based on customer reviews, as well as our own personal experience.
- Walked through the ordering process to determine each service’s ease of use.
- Reviewed the turnaround times for LLC and corporation formations.
Overall Pricing and Value
Incfile: For only $49, the lowest price we’ve seen, Incfile will help you form your business, while also providing a full year of registered agent service. Once the first year is over, the registered agent service will renew for $119 per year, which is a strong price point. In addition, their $149 Gold package and $299 Platinum package are both packed with valuable features that make them strong options as well, even at their higher price points.
MyCompanyWorks: Their basic package is $79, which isn’t a bad price considering the business documents included, but they do not include registered agent service. Also, with the higher-level packages costing $199 and $279, we would expect to see a bit more by way of added value. On the plus side, their registered agent service only costs $99 per year, which is a great rate.
Winner = Incfile
Incfile has lower price points, while also including a full year of registered agent service, which is a feature that MyCompanyWorks does not include. This category is an easy win for Incfile.
Company Track Record & Experience
Incfile: Incfile was founded in 2004, and they’ve formed over 150,000 businesses since then. Customer reviews are a major strength for them, as they have thousands of positive reviews across the web, and just a small handful of negative feedback.
MyCompanyWorks: Founded as MyNewCompany in 2001, they recently changed their name to MyCompanyWorks. Since they opened for business, they’ve helped form more than 50,000 companies. When it comes to customer feedback, MyCompanyWorks truly shines. They have about 2,500 reviews available online, and over 97% of them are either 4- or 5-star ratings.
Winner = Tie
Both of these companies have excellent track records and fabulous customer reviews. They are equals in this category.
Customer Service Comparison
Incfile: Incfile offers phone and email support, which we tested. When we used their phone support, our call was answered quickly and our question was answered, but not elaborated upon. We also emailed them with the same question after-hours and our email was answered by 10 a.m. the next day, with more details than we received over the phone.
MyCompanyWorks: MyCompanyWorks provides customers with phone and email support. We reached out via the form on their website and received a response back in less than 24 hours, and we were also able to quickly reach an employee on the phone. Their reps were courteous and professional, and they elaborated a bit on their responses as well.
Winner = Tie
These companies both excel when it comes to customer support, and we don’t really have a preference between them in this area.
Ease of Use
Incfile: As you walk through the process of signing up for Incfile, your steps are personalized based on the state you live in and the type of business you wish to establish. There are even little question marks and hyperlinks throughout the application to learn more about a specific question or entry on the form. There are a few upsells to navigate through, but if you opt into any of them, your total price is immediately updated on the screen. There are never any surprises with Incfile.
MyCompanyWorks: Once you’ve selected a package and any add-ons you need for your business, the application process is quick and easy. As long as you have all of the information you need, it shouldn’t take longer than 10-15 minutes. If you’re not sure where to begin with forming your business, they have a list of helpful articles covering topics like where to form your LLC or corporation, and which of those entities is the right choice for you.
Winner = Tie
Another category and another tie between these two highly respected service providers. Incfile and MyCompanyWorks both make the process of forming an LLC or corporation a streamlined and simple experience.
Speed of Formation
Incfile: Incfile guarantees that every LLC or corporation formation will be processed and forwarded to your state of formation within one business day. Many competitors make you pay an additional fee to get next-day processing. If you need your business formed in a hurry, Incfile offers the ability to order expedited state processing for an additional fee (determined by your state), or you can purchase their Platinum package which includes expedited service.
MyCompanyWorks: MyCompanyWorks guarantees that they’ll process your formation paperwork the same day you submit your order if it’s before 3pm ET, or the next business day if you submit your order after 3pm ET. They also offer an upgrade to expedite service with the state once paperwork is filed, and they have detailed estimates for both standard and expedited service on the order form.
Winner = Tie
Another category provides another very close battle between these great companies. We took a look at their turnaround time estimates for both standard and expedited service in several different states and they were quite comparable, meaning this category is another toss-up.
MyCompanyWorks competes closely with Incfile in nearly every category, but Incfile’s pricing and overall value are too much to compete with. Still, if for some reason you personally prefer MyCompanyWorks, they’re a great company in their own right and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
In general though, Incfile beats their base price by $30 while also including a full year of registered agent service, which is easily the better deal for most of our readers.
